This is Issy
Issy was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma at 13. She has since made a full recovery and as a young adult, is now cancer-free. While her journey was challenging, it highlighted the need for better access to healthcare information for children and young patients.
During her battle, Issy struggled with a lack of age appropriate information, which left her feeling scared, anxious, and alone.
Repeatedly, research has shown that providing information prior to treatment reduces stress and anxiety while improving clinical outcomes. Conversely, when patients aren’t well informed about their treatment this not only has an impact on their mental health, it also increases costs for providers through more missed appointments, longer appointment times, reduced adherence to medicine regimes and an increase in repeat procedures.
Recognizing this widespread issue, Issy’s dad, Dom Raban, co-founded Xploro. He set out to address the poor provision of information for children facing medical treatment and offer an accessible, up-to-date and affordable solution.
