Last week, the Xploro team landed in Chicago for the penultimate event of this year’s SMILE Health Accelerator. This was a chance to share what we’ve learned over the past 12 weeks and showcase Xploro to investors, fellow cohort members and a network of industry experts. Representing Xploro were Holly, our Chief Operating Officer and Nancy, our Executive Chair.

The SMILE Health Accelerator, led by CareQuest Innovation Partners and MATTER, brought together eight innovative start-ups from around the world to transform oral and overall health. The 12-week program supports companies that are challenging the status quo in healthcare — helping to make it more accessible, equitable, and integrated through expert-led validation studies, tailored workshops, and mentorship from industry leaders.

Opportunity

For Xploro, this experience couldn’t be a better fit. Our mission has always been to empower children with knowledge about their health through engaging, interactive technology. And in doing so, helping to reduce fear and anxiety in healthcare settings. Throughout the program, we’ve had the chance to connect with an inspiring network of industry experts and partners. Each working to reimagine how oral health connects to overall well-being.

A special thank you goes to our mentor, Dr. Carolyn Brown, whose thoughtful guidance and encouragement have been invaluable. Her expertise has helped us explore new ways Xploro can make a meaningful difference in oral health education and strengthen our impact across pediatric care.

We would also like to thank our partners at Cigna Healthcare, whose guidance and collaboration through the accelerator has been exceptional. Their insights and support have played a key role in helping us refine our approach and expand our vision for improving children’s experiences in healthcare.

Of course, no trip to Chicago would be complete without sampling the legendary deep-dish pizza. And yes, it’s every bit as good as they say. We also learned that “The Windy City” isn’t actually named for its weather. It’s because of the long-winded politicians of the past!

SMILE Health Accelerator

This trip was just the beginning of an exciting chapter for Xploro. The passion, creativity, and collaboration across this year’s cohort have been truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to see what next.

A huge thank you to CareQuest Innovation Partners, MATTER, Cigna Healthcare and the entire SMILE Health team for championing innovation that helps the world smile.

At Xploro, we believe that children deserve to feel informed, confident, and cared for in every healthcare experience.

If you’d like to learn more about how we’re bringing that vision to life — or explore ways to partner with us — we’d love to connect.
